Park Güell at a glance

Park Güell is a public park on a hill above the city. The part most visitors come for is the monumental zone with the mosaic terrace, the dragon on the main staircase and the two gatehouses. It covers 12 hectares, is part of Gaudí's UNESCO listing, and needs a ticket with a time slot.

The rest of the park is the forest zone, about 8 hectares. It is free and open to everyone without a ticket. If you only want a walk and a view, you do not have to pay anything. If you want the famous mosaics, you do.

Time slots and opening hours

Your ticket shows a slot time. You can enter up to 30 minutes after that time. After that the ticket expires. Once you leave the monumental zone, you cannot go back in. The park lets in at most 1,400 visitors per hour, which is why slots can sell out on busy days.

Tourist hours are 9:30 to 19:30. From 7:00 to 9:30 and from 20:00 to 22:00 the park is reserved for local residents. The park is open all year, but it can close in severe weather. We could not verify seasonal opening times or a last entry time, so look at the slot options when you buy.

How to plan your Park Güell visit

Four decisions, in this order.

1. Do you need a ticket?

If you want the mosaic terrace, the dragon and the gatehouses, yes. If you only want a walk in the green part of the hill, the forest zone is free.

2. Pick your slot

Choose a time between 9:30 and 19:30. With at most 1,400 visitors per hour, popular times fill up first. Remember the 30 minutes of tolerance and arrive a little early.

3. Choose your price

Check whether you qualify for a reduced price: €13.50 for children 7 to 12 and for visitors over 65. People with disabilities enter free, and a companion pays €13.50.

4. Pick your way in

Choose the entrance with the escalators on Avinguda del Santuari de Sant Josep de la Muntanya, or the one on Carretera del Carmel. Both are officially recommended.

If you also plan the Sagrada Família, see the ticket guide for its time slots and prices.

Good to know

Gaudí House Museum

The museum in the park is temporarily closed, according to the website of the Sagrada Família foundation. Do not plan your visit around it.

Combine with the basilica

Many visitors do the Sagrada Família in the morning and the park in the afternoon. Book both slots before you go.
