Getting to the Sagrada Família by metro and bus

The basilica stands in the Eixample district. The metro station Sagrada Família is on lines L2 and L5 and is the most direct way to arrive. Several bus lines also stop nearby: 19, 33, 34, D50, H10 and B24.

Individual visitors use the main entrance at the Nativity facade on Carrer de la Marina. Groups use the group entrance, which is also on Carrer de la Marina. The big Glory facade on Carrer de Mallorca is not built yet, so there is no entrance on that side. Entrances for tower tickets are not stated in the official information we checked.

From the airport to the Sagrada Família

There are two main options. Both need a metro ride at the end.

Aerobús to Plaça Catalunya

Line A1 serves Terminal 1 and line A2 serves Terminal 2 (T2B on the way in, T2C on the way back). The bus runs 24 hours a day and takes about 30 to 35 minutes. The A1 leaves every 5 minutes from 6:40 to 21:55, the A2 every 10 minutes from 5:00 to 22:30. Children under 4 travel free. Check the current fare before you go. It does not stop at the Sagrada Família, so you continue by metro from Plaça Catalunya.

Metro L9 Sud

The airport ticket costs €5.90 and covers one metro trip including the airport stations. A normal single ticket (€2.90) is not valid at the airport stations. To reach L2 or L5 you need to change. Check the best transfer in the TMB route planner.

T-dia or Hola Barcelona Travel Card

The T-dia (from €12) includes one trip to and one trip from the airport. The Hola Barcelona Travel Card (up to 5 days, from €12.50) includes the airport trips as well. The T-casual (from €13) is not valid at the airport. Prices are from the operator's site, October 2026.

Tips for a smooth arrival

Small things that save time at the door.

Bring photo ID

Staff check an official photo ID at the entrance, and the name must match the ticket. Reduced tickets also need proof such as age or student status.

Do not leave and return

Once you leave the basilica, you cannot go back in. The temple is cleared 15 minutes before closing, so plan your last visit accordingly.

Luggage on arrival day

This is the point where many airport arrivals go wrong.

There are no lockers for suitcases at the Sagrada Família. Casa Batlló has no lockers either. Bags are checked at the entrance. Lockers exist only for tower visitors, and only for bags. If you arrive before check-in, ask your accommodation whether it can keep your luggage, and visit the basilica afterwards.

Dress rules and other items that are not allowed are listed on the dress code and rules page. Looking for a base in the area? See where to stay.
